Upload a photo of your house and try real shingle colors on your actual roof. It takes about five minutes, it is completely free, and nobody shows up at your door because you used it.
Free. No obligation. No salesperson.
Stand across the street and shoot the front of the house straight on. If you cannot get outside, pull the image from Google Street View or your Zillow listing. Either works.
The tool maps your roof automatically. Then you swap shingle colors and styles and watch the house change in front of you.
Keep your designs, share them with whoever else has a say, and sit with the decision as long as you want.
Most bad renderings come from bad source photos. Four things fix that:
Color is the decision most homeowners agonize over and the one they get the least honest guidance on. Here is what actually matters for a house in Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, or Troy.
Those black streaks running down north-facing roof slopes are algae, and our humidity and heavy tree cover make the Capital Region a good place for it to grow. It is cosmetic and it does not shorten the life of the roof, but it is ugly and it shows up far more obviously on light shingles. If your roof is shaded and north-facing, a blended or darker color hides it better, and most manufacturers offer algae-resistant lines with copper granules built into the shingle. Ask about those specifically.
You will hear that dark shingles melt snow faster and prevent ice dams. Do not make a color decision on that basis. Ice dams form because heat escaping your living space warms the roof deck from underneath and melts snow that refreezes at the cold eave. The fix is attic insulation and ventilation, not shingle color. Anyone selling you a dark roof as ice dam protection is telling you what you want to hear.
The Capital Region has distinct housing stock and it rewards paying attention to it:
A one-foot sample board in a showroom is nearly useless. Color reads completely differently at scale, at distance, and under real light. That is the entire reason this tool exists. Once you have a rendering, pull it up on your phone while standing in your own driveway and compare it to what is in front of you.
Product lines section. Add the manufacturers and shingle lines Roof Monster actually installs, named specifically. Renoworks currently has the Westlake library loaded, which is probably wrong for this market. Confirm with Matt, have Brad Finck rebuild the library, then write this section to match. Delete this red box when done.
Yes. There is no cost to use the visualizer and no obligation to hire us afterward. Use it, save your designs, and take as long as you want.
No. If you share your contact information we may follow up to answer questions or offer an estimate, and if you would rather we did not, tell us and that is the end of it. Nobody is showing up at your door unannounced.
Close enough to make a confident decision, and not a substitute for seeing a physical sample. Screen calibration, photo lighting, and monitor settings all shift color slightly. Use the visualizer to narrow five options to two, then look at real samples on those two.
Use Google Street View or the listing photos from your Zillow or Redfin page. Both usually have a clean, straight-on shot of the front of the house.
The visualizer is configured with the products we carry. If you land on something you love, ask us and we will confirm availability and pricing for your specific roof.
Save your design, then call us at (518) 218-6514 or request an estimate. Bring the rendering to the conversation and we will price out exactly what you picked.
Five minutes, a photo of your house, and you will finally know what you actually want instead of guessing from a sample board.
Free. Questions? Call (518) 218-6514.
